Learning Japanese grammar-adjectives conjugation

We use the テ form when you say two or more adjectives or nouns in a row.

We also use the テ form when you talk about the past.

Conjugation

take い and put くて

(ex)

やすい→やす→やすくて

おおきくない→おおくな→おおきくなくて

*いい→よくて

(ex) このレストランは やすくて、おいしいです。
This restaurant is cheap and delicious.

ナadjective and noun

Conjugation

ナ adjective without な / noun + で

(ex)

べんりな→べんりで

べんりじゃない→べんりじゃなくて

(ex) べんりで おとくな バスカード。
Convenient and good value bus card.

(ex) かれは 15さいで、だいがくに にゅうがくした。
He is 15 years old and entered university.

te form vs けど

When the words are good meaning and good meaning or bad meaning and bad meaning, we use te form.

cheap should be a good meaning for you and delicious also carries good meaning.

Therefore, we use te form, やすくて、おいしい。

However, if it’s expensive and delicious, expensive is not good meaning, so we don’t use te form.

Instead, we use が or けど.

(ex) このレストランは たかいけど、おいしいです。
This restaurant is expensive, but delicious.
(ex) パソコンはべんりですが、たかいです。
Computers are convenient, but expensive.

conclusion

We use the テ form when you say two or more adjectives or nouns in a row.

We also use the テ form when you talk about the past.
