How do you ask someone to do something?

In this article, I teach you how you can ask people to do something with てください.

てください

We use てください to ask or recommend a person to do something.

Te form + ください

If you don’t know what te form is, please read this article first.

Learning Japanese conjugation te form

If you want to invite your friends to come to your house, you can say わたしの いえに きてください

(ex1) わたしの いえに きてください。
Please come to my house.

(ex2) にほんごの れんしゅうを してください。
Please practice Japanese.

(ex3)ここに なまえを かいて ください。
Please write down your name here.

※ We use てくださいませんか in place of てください to make a polite request.

(ex) てつだって くださいませんか。
Could you please help me?

ないでください

We use ないでください to ask a person not to do something.

ないで+ください

If you don’t know ない form, please read this article first.

Learning negative sentences in japanese

(ex1) 11じから シャワーを つかわないで ください。
Please don’t take a shower after 11pm.

(ex2) さわらないでください。
Please don’t touch it.
